Vicente Segrelles (born 9 September 1940 in Barcelona) is a Spanish comic book artist and writer.
Segrelles’ 1980 comic book, El Mercenario (a painted comic book epic), gained him a lot of popularity in Europe. El Mercenario is set in a medieval fantasy setting and follows the adventures of a mercenary as he fights against evil. This is a rare technique in comic book art. Every panel of El Mercenario’s work, which has reached 14 issues, is painted in oil,It takes a lot of time.
Segrelles was also the cover artist for the Italian science fiction magazine Urania from 1988 to 1991.
