Frank Frazetta, born February 9, 1928, May 10, 2010, was an American fantasy and science-fiction artist. He is best known for his comic books, paperback book cover designs, posters, paintings, comic books, and other media. He is often called the “Godfather” of fantasy art and one of the most prominent illustrators of the 20th-century. He was also the subject in Painting with Fire, a 2003 documentary.
Frazetta was inducted into comic book industry’s Will Eisner, Jack Kirby, Society of Illustrators Hall of Fame and Science Fiction Hall of Fame. He was also awarded a Life Achievement Award by the World Fantasy Convention.
